Otis Too was
surrendered by his owner when a change in circum stance sent her
back full time into the workforce. Otis Too, bored and
frustrated by all that down time, amused himself by chewing holes in the walls. Faced with two impossible choices -
letting Otis Too destroy her home or leaving him outside alone
all day in the Arizona heat with his kiddie pool, his owner
decided to surrender him to the FBVillage instead.
According to
his foster mom, a veterinarian with a great deal of experience
with dogs, Otis Too is a very sweet, active young French
Bulldog. With people he is completely outgoing and so
happy he can barely contain himself. However, he does have
some confidence issues with other dogs. It takes just a little
bit of extra time for him to warm up to other dogs but he LOVES
to play and is getting better and better each day!. His
foster mom does not believe he would bite another
dog
(she has tested him out on her own dogs, a two year old intact
male French Bulldog and an adolescent intact male mastiff), but
he can be VERY noisy when first meeting other dogs and while
playing. This is no cause for alarm. When he is too hyped up, a
firm word will settle him instantly.
Otis Too gets along with cats as
well as other dogs, and he loves children, but he has shown some
toy guarding behavior, so small children are out of the
question.
Otis Too is crate trained and housebroken, but please keep in
mind that any dog in a new home may have a few accidents while
he is learning a new schedule. He is up to date in his veterinary care and
has no apparent health issues, other than a low thyroid.
He has been on an inexpensive thyroid medication now for about
six weeks, and his levels are stable and good. He should have a
follow up test for thyroid levels in about six months.
He has taken to the crate right off and would need to be crated
when the owner is not there as he likes to eat cloth (wash
clothes and sock s
etc). His favorite thing above all else (besides people) is
empty water bottles. He does not swallow those. He cannot have
stuffed toys or rope toys or anything with fabric because he can
chew anything in a matter of minutes and he will swallow it. He
is a big love muffin and is so responsive to whatever he thinks
that you might want him to do.
The ideal home for Otis Too is in a house with other dogs,
preferably big dogs or other Frenchies. He would like to be
somewhere where things are active and moving around a lot and
older kids would be great as well. He does really like cats,
but he will chase them if they run. He does not bite at them,
but any cats in the home would have to be dog savvy, since he
will want to interact with them. He will even try to groom them
if allowed.
Otis Too is an
active French Bulldog who will need regular daily activity in
order to release some of that energy he has. He really is a
simple dog, he wants and tries his best to do what is wanted,
and he would make a beautiful, loving addition to a home
that was prepared and willing to provide him with the activity
and structure and interaction that he requires.
