Little Tequila, a middle aged French Bulldog bitch as fiery as the firewater she was named for and ridiculously small at 14 pounds, recently lost her home.  It wasn't her fault, her elderly owner had died more than a year ago, and she and her companion Pug had found a home with another elderly lady who had promised to care for them. The Pug did just fine, but little Frenchie girl raged against the changes in her life from the start.  When she engaged in pitched battle with a more recent refugee, a German Shepherd, her rescuer decided she really wasn't up to the task of rescuing Tequila after all, and she contacted the FBVillage.

Our Florida volunteer obligingly drove through Hurricane Fay to rescue this little Frenchie and bring her home.  They barely made it back alive through the howling winds, and the only thing that kept them alive was an enormous table in the back of the vehicle, purchased on a whim, and then too heavy for our volunteer and her husband to lift out of the van themselves!  It was a wonderfully dramatic start for our little girl. 

With a new name and wearing her very own pink leisure suit from the extensive wardrobe she brought with her, and a quiet crate stuffed with fluffy blankets to sleep in, little Sara-Leigh is already feeling much better.  We learned that she had leaked urine continuously in her last home, and a veterinary examination indicated that she had a very long standing urinary tract infection.  She also had fleas stuffed so deep in her ears that they were impacted.  At just 14 pounds, she was so undernourished, the veterinarian advised her foster mom that she needed to put on another three or four pounds.  Sometimes, time robs even the most well meaning persons of their ability to properly care for their little companions...

We are looking forward to restoring this little Frenchie in body and spirit, and, most important of all, finding a new home for her where she can be someone's little princess once again.
