“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.”

These words ring true for our newest K-Kid, named, of course, Forrest. This beautiful Frenchie mix was found running the streets of Omaha, but unlike his namesake in the movie, who ran because he just felt like running, our Forrest was running because he had no place to go. The fine folks at the Nebraska Humane Society took this sweet boy in, treated him for a nasty case of tapeworms, neutered him, chipped him, and released him into the custody of one of The French Bulldog Village volunteers. We were more than happy to answer the call to retrieve Forrest from the Nebraska Humane Society, so they could give his bed to another homeless animal in need.

Forrest has hung up his running shoes at his foster mom’s house with 2 foster fur siblings, Bubba and Jenny, (ok, ok, Raider and Ruby) to watch over him and show him the ropes. Hard to imagine that this big, healthy handsome Midwestern boy, tipping the scales at 30 plus pounds, could be anything but confident, but our Forrest is actually a very scared, little dog. His rambles through Omaha have left him none too sure of his welcome, but, with the dedication of his foster family, our Forrest will learn to come out of his shell and trust people again. We are hoping that, in no time at all, our Forrest will find his own “magic shoes” and find a home of his own. When that happens, we can gleefully shout….(here it comes) ”Run, Forrest, Run”!

Forrest didn't bring anything with him, when he came into foster care, so he really could use what most dogs take for granted: a new collar and leash, some toys of his own, and a warm bed for those chilly Nebraska nights. Please click on the globe to sponsor Forrest, he would surely be grateful.  Thank you!
