Desmond is a healthy, one year old French
Bulldog, with emphasis on the “Bully” in Bulldog. He was
surrendered to the FBVillage by a loving owner who just was not
prepared to handle a dog that needs a strong pack leader.
Desmond demonstrates very pronounced source guarding and
location guarding behavior that, if not properly redirected, can
result in Desmond's becoming aggressive.
No need to worry, after a careful on site
evaluation of the young dog, FBVillage decided to give
Desmond a chance and enrolled him in “Bully Boot-Camp” in
Maryland in a foster home with the
requisite training skills to work with a difficult dog. While
taking lessons in Civilization 101, Desmond
is making the best of his new situation, and we hear he is
getting along fabulously with the resident Frenchie and Boston
Terrier, not to mention too many cats to count.
Desmond is a
high energy, goofy young Frenchie who loves to clown arou
nd
most of the time. Our tough little guy is also showing his
soft side... He lets the resident cats groom him, sleep with
him, and rub all over him.
While in
foster care, Desmond has already displayed some guarding of his
food, toys, and sleeping area, as was expected. However. he is
responding well to the idea that these items are in fact, not
his, and no matter how big the temper tantrum is, this little
boy will not always get to keep what he wants. All spoiled kids
need to learn this, and Desmond is no different!
We are not
sure how long Desmond’s stint in Bully Boot Camp will be, but he
will need lots of support to get through! Just like in the US
Military, our four-legged cadets in Bully Boot Camp thrive on
care packages. Desmond needs help to pay for even the
essentials, a cot to sleep on, and 2 squares a day. He also
needs help with the proper uniform: a leash, collar, and
training equipment. And hey, all soldiers need to be rewarded
for their hard work, so treats and toys would be much
appreciated. If you can spare even a few dollars to go
towards getting this boy on the right track, it would be much
appreciated!
