Andre first
came into FBVillage's custody the last week of January, 2008.
After three months in foster care, Andre was placed in an adoptive home in
Oregon in
May, 2008, where we hoped he could continue to receive the love and
discipline that he needed to become the marvelous companion he was
always intended to be. Unfortunately, his new owners were unable
to take charge of Andre and manage the pack dynamics of their newly
adjusted household, and Andre found himself back on his foster mom's
doorstep just three months later. His foster mom reports that
Andre is thrilled to be "home"!
Andre is an intense and powerful young French Bulldog, imported from
Russia as a pup and sold to a retired couple in Kentucky as a companion.
His new family named their wild child Hotrod, and the young dog
certainly lived up to his name. He ran the people and the
other dogs, a pair of sweet natured hounds, absolutely ragged.
He paid absolutely no attention to his owners' attempts to civilize
him or his canine companions' requests to
be left alone.
Hotrod's owners loved him dearly, but they realized they were
completely outmatched by the very energetic adolescent that Hotrod
had become. They hired a dog trainer to no avail, and while
his manners might have been better as a result, the interior dog was
still much too active f or the quiet family in which he had found
himself. Like the incredible bouncing Tigger of Winnie the
Pooh fame, Hotrod exhausted everyone around him. Reluctantly,
they turned him over to the FBVillage to find a more suitable home
and peace and quiet enveloped the grateful household once again.
Hotrod was flown to a foster home in Oregon, where he met his match
in his new foster mom, a lifetime dog lover and dog rescuer - and
former animal control officer! Her first order of business was to provide him with the much more sedate name
of Andre. We are happy to report that Andre is devoting his energy to
learning how to behave so that he can find a forever home of his
own.
Please help by sponsoring Andre so that we can continue to provide training and rehabilitation for
the difficult dogs like Andre
that may otherwise not have the promise of a better future.
