Okay, push the
button to call the
dog…
Yup, that big old
head on a pretty impressive set of springs is our own Elroy. He
has brains, looks, youth, personality…darn, I wish I were Elroy!
This boy is FANTASTIC! He
is the life of the party, always grinning and wagging his tail.
He just wants to have
a good time, and eat, of course! Since he was never allowed to
be a puppy, he is making up for lost time now, mouthing and
exploring everything in the house, just to see what it is all
about.
Our boy, Elroy
came to the French Bulldog Village, scared and shy, from a
commercial breeder in Missouri. He was supposed to be a stud
dog, but his career was cut short when it turned out he was
shooting blanks! (We haven’t told him yet… shh.)
Elroy gets along
great with other dogs. He likes cats. He’s in excellent
health since surgery to trim his soft palate and widen his nares
(nostrils). An overlong soft palate and too tight nostrils
are congenital conditions common to many French Bulldogs.
Elroy came through surgery like a champ. He has no other known
health issues and is just a big beautiful boy.
Like a true
Frenchie, he has a goofy streak and has been
known to jump up and down like he is on a pogo stick.
Elroy has had limited interaction with people, so he does not
sit and let himself be petted much. He certainly has not been a
snuggly Fbbbog. However, he is very friendly, and with
more time, we hope he will get more affectionate and cuddly!
Elroy
gets along well with children. And all of this has been
accomplished in a few short weeks with his foster mom in Texas!
With a stable forever home and a loving family, Elroy is likely
to continue blossoming into a love bug.
There’s still some
work to do in the housebreaking department, but this smart boy
should catch on quickly with some patience and consistency. He
sleeps and eats in his crate, and is happy to do so. We don't
think he could be trusted just yet to roam free at night!
His foster mom had
some very specific requirements for Elroy's perfect home... "I
envision a home with people that are patient and fun! Children
are fine, as long as they are over 3 or 4 years old. Elroy can
be a bit clumsy! Another dog would be fantastic for Elroy, as he
LOVES other dogs. But, only one dog. He needs to bond with his
new owners, and Elroy can get fixated on the canines too much,
ignoring the hand that feeds him!! His new family needs to be
committed to his emotional development and bonding with people -
that means, lots of time interacting and obedience classes. The
classes will help Elroy so much with his self-confidence, not to
mention his manners.
He will need to
be walked, as he is a bit energetic (man you should see him
jump!) A fenced yard would be ideal, but an apartment would be
fine with the proper amount of walks for Elroy.
All he really
needs is people to understand where he came from, and how to
help him get to where he needs to be: a beloved member of a
family, and all that he deserves!"
