Are we a rescue organization?  We certainly are!

In fact, the French Bulldog Village is a unique organization.  Yes, we are a rescue group:  we foster and rehabilitate French Bulldogs that are rescued by or surrendered to French Bulldog Village volunteers.  We are able to care for these rescue dogs, which are identified as K-Kids on our website, through the financial resources of the K-Fund, the Karen Krings Memorial Trust, Inc. 

However, we don't stop there - the French Bulldogs available for adoption on the French Bulldog Bus come from many different sources: from other rescue organizations, from private rescuers, from responsible breeders seeking to find new homes for their breeder retirees, older puppies and adult dogs, and dogs with medical issues or handicaps, or even from individual owners who are unable to keep their French Bulldogs and who want to find new homes for them without surrendering them to a rescue or to a shelter. 

The criteria for getting a seat on the FB Bus is quite simple, each little passenger is looking for a new home and a new start!

This is not a commercial venture for the French Bulldog Village.  We receive no compensation for the little passengers that we place.  Any donations made to the French Bulldog Village go directly to the K-Fund so that we can continue to help French Bulldogs in need, not just those in the custody of the French Bulldog Village, but also those in the custody of other rescue groups or private rescuers. 

THE ADOPTION PROCESS

1). If you have made the decision that a Frenchie is the right dog for you and your family, review the description of the available French Bulldog  on the FB Bus to make sure that the information provided fits with your particular needs and lifestyle. Let each description about each particular French Bulldog be your guide: read through the information provided carefully as pictures of the dog do not tell the whole story. 

While every effort is made to complete the adoption process as quickly as possible, it can take 2 to 6 weeks or longer, so please be patient! 

2). Complete the online adoption application. Please make sure that you provide as much information about yourself as you can. List your entire household, including even frequent visitors such as grandchildren, and all animals currently living with you, including other dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. The more information that application contains, the easier it is for the foster home to decide if the Frenchie you have chosen is a good match for your home. 

Applications are not kept on file. You must reapply for each dog that interests you.

  The French Bulldog Village ONLY reviews or approves the adoption applications or the placement of our own rescue dogs.  We do not participate in the placement of French Bulldogs that come from other rescue organizations, private rescuers, breeders, or individual owners seeking to find new homes for French Bulldogs they can no longer keep.  The applications for these dogs are forwarded and screened by  the other rescue organizations, private rescuers, breeders, or individual owners who put those dogs on the Bus, and all final decisions are made by them. We believe that ALL French Bulldogs are entitled to find the best possible homes available and the French Bulldog Bus is there to help them find those homes.

3). We only accept applications for dogs that are available on the FB Bus.  We do not take or accept applications for K-kids that are not listed on the FB Bus.  Once your application is submitted to adopt a K-kid, it will be carefully reviewed by the FBV volunteer fostering the dog.  Any questions that you might have regarding any dog should be sent to the email address for that particular dog.  Often times, two or three or more potential adopters are selected.  If your application is chosen as a potential adopter, your veterinary reference will be checked (if applicable) and the foster home will call you to interview you on the phone. If all goes well, they will schedule a mutually convenient time for a home visit with one of our FBV Homecheckers' volunteers.  We encourage our Homechecker volunteers to bring along one or more of their own French Bulldogs to the home visit.

4). Once the home visit is completed, the home visit report will be forwarded to the foster home and they will make the final adoption decision.

5).  All of the available dogs on the FB Bus are spayed or neutered  (unless a prevailing medical condition indicates that spaying or neutering is not in the best interests of the dog), current on vaccinations, and the K-kids are micro-chipped prior to placement.  We ask that all French Bulldogs placed through the French Bulldog Bus be in good health, or alternately that all KNOWN health conditions be identified to the purchaser/adopter prior to placement.

6). Before you adopt a K-kid, and in most cases before you adopt ANY dog on the French Bulldog Bus, you will be asked to complete and sign a sales or adoption agreement.  Please read the agreement carefully and make sure you agree with the all of the terms before signing.

7).  Adoption fees are listed next to each individual dog and are at the sole discretion of the French Bulldog Village, rescue group, private rescuer, breeder, or private individual seeking to find a new home for their dog.  In some cases, the adoption fee is not made public at the request of the person or group posting the dog and is made available upon inquiry only. 

It is the responsibility of the adopter to pick up the dog in person or make transportation arrangements with the rescue group, private rescuer, breeder, or individual dog owner.
